The rhassoul we offer is fine grey rhassoul with a silky feel. Very pure, it represents the optimum form of this mineral. Extracted from the deepest layers, it is not mixed with surface rhassoul, also known as ‘red rhassoul’.
Unique: our rhassoul is microbiologically tested to certify that it is completely germ-free: Candida albicans, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus.
A natural way to wash that respects the skin and hair
Rhassoul is a natural clay mineral extracted from the Atlas Mountains in Morocco. In North Africa, rhassoul has been traditionally used for centuries to cleanse and care for the hair and skin. It is an integral part of the ‘hammam culture’. Rhassoul cleans according to physical principles, unlike conventional surfactant-based shampoos and soaps. When mixed with water, it swells to form a gel with a pleasant consistency. Made up of very fine particles, it has a high exchange capacity, meaning it absorbs superfluous impurities and grease like a blotter. These can then be rinsed away. This very gentle washing process does not remove the hydrolipidic film from the skin and hair, as overly aggressive surfactants can do. Washing with rhassoul does not attack the hair's natural protective sheath or the skin's protective acid film. Nor does it irritate the sebaceous glands.
