Juniper berry

Juniper berry

A bushy, very slow-growing shrub with rough bark and needle-like evergreen leaves. It takes two years after flowering to produce ripe fruit. These small berries are green at first, then turn blue-black and are covered with a waxy coating. Their distillation produces an essential oil with woody, fine and slightly spicy aromas, which are sought after in perfumery.
