This tree is a very close relative of the Cedar of Lebanon, a tree that has been famous since ancient times. Cedrus atlantica is found in the Moroccan Atlas, but also in France. To obtain the essential oil, the wood is previously chopped into chips. The essential oil of Atlas cedar contains sesquiterpenes, sesquiterpenols and ketones.
The major property of this essential oil is that it is lymphotonic, or lymphatic system stimulant. It stimulates arterial circulation. It is effective against water retention problems. It is lipolytic (dissolves fat). It is a healing agent and works in synergy to treat dermatoses.
The aroma of this essential oil is woody, soft at first but then gaining in strength. Cedar EO is a blend of restraint and solemnity. It favours meditative states and all circumstances related to elevation and spirituality.
