Sodium bicarbonate, NaHCO3 An essential product in the making of your cosmetics. Fine grain size. Easy to use and applicable in many areas of daily life: also in the manufacture of cleaning products, in the kitchen and in the garden. In cosmetics, it is mainly used for its antifungal properties in deodorants and toothpastes (abrasive and teeth-whitening properties). Also useful as a pH adjuster: it increases the pH of preparations that are too acidic thanks to its alkaline pH. You can also use it in the preparation of a dry shampoo or in the manufacture of a bath ball. For household use: degreases and stains, neutralises odours and limits the proliferation of bacteria. Precautions: Due to its high pH (between 8 and 9), be careful as it can be irritating to sensitive skin. For use as a toothpaste, it is advisable to alternate with another toothpaste as its abrasive properties can be too aggressive in the long term (e.g. alternate with coconut oil/tea tree oil). Example of a toothpaste recipe Mix the following ingredients: 3 teaspoons of green clay, 1 teaspoon of sodium bicarbonate, 1 tablespoon of glycerine (adjust according to the desired consistency) and 3 drops of essential oil (tea tree, lemon or peppermint). Example of a deodorant recipe Mix the following ingredients: 60ml aloe vera gel, 15ml witch hazel hydrosol, 15g sodium bicarbonate, 5 drops of geranium essential oil and 10 drops of patchouli essential oil. Also for food use.
