The 4 spice pepper, officinal pepper, is a tree of the eucalyptus family, native to the tropical regions of Central America and the Caribbean. Its leaves and berries are used in Creole and Caribbean cuisine. A flavor that evokes those of four spices together: cloves, nutmeg, pepper and cinnamon. It was traditionally used in Central America to perfume chocolate.

The fruit of this pepper is a small green berry, black when ripe and with a sweet pulp. Its flavour is reminiscent of four spices combined: cloves, nutmeg, pepper and cinnamon. It was traditionally used in Central America to flavour chocolate, and is still used today in cooking. Its essential oil has spicy notes and is exceptionally light.

External use:

  • Reputed to tone the scalp and stimulate hair growth.
  • Helps combat baldness and dandruff
  • Balances sebum production

Stimulates the vital force needed for action and the expression of feelings. Suitable for people who are silent and withdrawn, lacking confidence in themselves and in their relationships with others. It connects on an emotional level.

  • Not for use by pregnant or breast-feeding women, or by children under the age of 6.
  • Not recommended for people with asthma or epilepsy. 
  • For external use only.
  • Irritating, even dermocaustic for the skin, do not apply undiluted, dilute sufficiently for use by the skin (max 10% in a vegetable oil).

*Risk of allergy (eugenol): take care not to overdose in mixtures. An elbow test is recommended before applying to the skin (at least 48 hours before use).
