Beeswax: a versatile ingredient for your balms and creams
Beeswax is a key ingredient in the manufacture of balms and sticks, offering numerous skin care benefits.
Balms:
Used in balms, beeswax allows essential oils to act primarily on the skin. For optimum effectiveness, it can represent up to 10% of the total weight of the preparation.
Creams:
Incorporated into a classic cream with an emulsifier, beeswax plays a different role. Here, it is added to the oil phase, representing a maximum of 3% of the total weight. It thickens the cream, stabilises the emulsion and has a 'film-forming' effect, creating a continuous protective film on the skin.
