How to relieve a cold naturally with aromatherapy?

Stuffy or runny nose, a feeling of a bar in the forehead and tiredness, colds are a common occurrence as soon as the weather turns cold and can be unpleasant to live with on a daily basis. Even if there is no miracle cure, natural treatments with essential oils and hydrolats can speed up the healing process. We share our tips for relieving a cold with natural treatments.

Diffusion of "anti-cold" essential oils

Diffuse in combination, the organic essential oils of eucalyptus radiata and Scots pine.

These two essential oils provide their benefits on the respiratory sphere thanks to their nasal decongestant, mucolytic and respiratory antiseptic action.

For a 15 minute diffusion, pour into your diffuser:

  • 7 drops of eucalyptus radiata essential oil
  • 20 drops of Scots pine essential oil

Contra-indications: not suitable for pregnant, breastfeeding women and children under 6 years, as well as for asthmatics.

Fragrant Inula hydrosol, as a cure for colds

It is used as a cure, at a rate of 2 tablespoons of organic sweet woodruff hydrolate in 1 litre of water, to be drunk throughout the day, for a maximum of 10 days. Prepare this mixture in your flask for example.

It can also be taken pure, in a spoonful of honey.

The hydrosol of sweet woodruff has proven its effectiveness in decongesting and clearing the respiratory tract, thanks to its mucolytic and anticatarrhal properties.

Contra-indications: not suitable for pregnant and breastfeeding women and children under 3 years. For children over 3 years: one teaspoon per day diluted in a glass of water.

Thyme essential oil, to relieve colds

It is used orally, always diluted:

  • 1 drop of organic thyme essential oil in a spoonful of vegetable oil
    OR
  • 1 drop of organic thyme essential oil mixed with 4 drops of Solubol, in a glass of water.

Organic Thyme essential oil (also known as strong thyme) is a powerful broad-spectrum anti-infective. Purifying, it promotes respiratory comfort.

Contra-indication: not suitable for pregnant and breastfeeding women and children under 8 years. Contraindicated in case of hepatic insufficiency.

The Immunity fluid

Put a pressure of this synergy on the inner side of the wrists and breathe deeply the aroma that comes out of it, several times. You can also massage a few drops of this synergy on the back of the neck, shoulder blades and chest to support the immune system.

Contra-indications: not suitable for pregnant and breastfeeding women and children under 6 years. To be used with caution by people with high blood pressure, due to the presence of peppermint essential oil, which has a hypertensive effect.
