This Mediterranean shrub with white flowers produces an essential oil that is unmistakable by its aroma and viscosity. Its composition is surprisingly complex, since almost all families of aromatic molecules are represented.
Cistus essential oil is known for its powerful haemostatic and healing properties. In combination, it helps to combat autoimmune diseases and in particular inflammations of the digestive tract. On the cosmetic level, it can be incorporated in small quantities (1 to 3%) into a base cream to make an excellent astringent and anti-wrinkle product.
The complexity of the EO of cistus is of course verified by its aroma, because it is the very type of heady scent at first sight, but evolving with perception. It is used for the warm envelopment it provides, which soon wins over the soul.
