My natural hair: the essential steps

Want to go natural with your hair? Here are 5 simple steps you can take to strengthen and beautify your hair naturally by banishing silicones, sulphates and other synthetic ingredients which, in the long run, suffocate and dull the hair while polluting the water environment. See also our file: organic plant powders for hair care Step 1: oil bath: the natural pre-shampoo treatment This simple ritual consists of massaging the lengths and ends of the hair with a few drops of vegetable oil or a mixture of vegetable and essential oils. Depending on the oils chosen, the oil bath strengthens and beautifies the hair while nourishing the lengths. The oil bath ritual: Apply a small amount of vegetable oil to your hair and massage well. Wrap your hair in a towel (warm is even better!). Leave on for 20 minutes to one night. Then, switch to a mask or shampoo! Tip: you can also massage the scalp to stimulate microcirculation and promote hair growth, while fighting hair loss! Which vegetable oil for my oil bath? Dry hair: argan, avocado, coconut, ricin, olive, borage Oily hair: jojoba, hazelnut, nigella Normal hair: coconut, ricin, avocado, jojoba, olive Recipe - Balancing and beautifying oil bath for all hair types - Jojoba vegetable oil - 20 ml - Coconut vegetable oil - 10 ml - rosemary cineole essential oil - 7 drops - Ylang-ylang essential oil - 7 drops - grapefruit essential oil - 7 drops Mix all ingredients in a 30 ml amber glass bottle. Shake. It's ready to use! Your care oil will keep for at least 6 months. Step 2: Clay or herbal hair mask Once a week, make a mask with rhassoul, green clay or plant powders to purify and balance the scalp. Rhassoul allows you to wash your hair at the same time: it is both a treatment and a shampoo! The hair mask ritual: After your oil bath, apply your mask to your hair, strand by strand, with a brush (such as a colouring brush or even a kitchen brush). Leave on for 10 minutes: you don't want your mask to dry out. Then shampoo! You can make your own mask with Montmorillonite green clay, rhassoul or plant powders, hydrosols, a little vegetable oil adapted to your hair type and possibly a few drops of essential oil. Recipe - Oxygenating and purifying mask with rhassoul for all hair types Rhassoul - 2 tablespoons Water or hydrosol (laurel, rosemary verbenone...) - enough to form a smooth paste Jojoba vegetable oil - 1 half tablespoon Lemon essential oil - 2 drops Rosemary cineole essential oil - 2 drops (If your hair is very long, feel free to double the quantities) Mix all the ingredients with a wooden spoon or a stainless steel mini whisk. Apply your mask immediately, it does not keep. Step 3: The gentle, natural shampoo Take care of your hair with a silicone-free organic shampoo like our ?Douceur et Equilibre? shampoo or with a homemade solid shampoo (you can find several recipes here). For a personalised shampoo, add one or two drops of essential oil to your dose of ?Douceur et Equilibre? shampoo. Which essential oil to choose according to your hair type? For all hair types and to bring shine: ylang-ylang essential oil To promote growth: grapefruit essential oil To cleanse and balance oily hair: essential oils of clary sage, tea tree, laurel, rosemary, lemon, petit grain To fight against hair loss: essential oils of Saint Thomas bay, himalayan spikenard, ginger, rosemary, grapefruit, Atlas cedar To prevent the appearance of dandruff: essential oils of cade, palmarosa, laurel, patchouli To restore shine to dull, dry and tired hair: rose geranium essential oil Step 4: Herbal vinegar conditioner Traditionally used for hair beauty, herbal vinegar tightens the hair scales after shampooing, adds shine and fights dandruff. The herbal vinegar conditioner ritual: After shampooing, dilute 2 to 4 tablespoons of herbal vinegar in a bowl of water or a bottle and then pour it all over your hair and scalp. Rub lightly. Wrap your hair in a towel for a few minutes and then style your hair! This treatment does not need to be rinsed, the smell of the vinegar fades quickly. You can use cider vinegar alone or make your own mixtures of vinegar and plants (rosemary, lavender, chamomile, etc.). Recipe - Herbal Hair Vinegar Lemon essential oil - 10 drops Rosemary cineole essential oil - 10 drops Atlas cedar essential oil - 10 drops Cider vinegar - 1L Dried thyme - 20g Add the thyme to the litre of cider vinegar and the essential oils. Mix and leave to macerate for 1 week, shaking regularly. After 1 week, filter with a coffee filter and a funnel. Step 5: Hair day care To sculpt your curls, fix a hairstyle, give bounce to flat hair, or give a "wavy" effect, think of organic aloe vera gel! Simply apply a small amount to curls or rub a small amount of gel between your hands and then run your hands through your hair upside down, working your way up the ends, to add bounce and volume to your hair. Don't be too heavy on the aloe vera gel to avoid the cardboard effect, a small amount is enough! You can also make a light day cream to keep the lengths and ends moisturized. Also apply a small amount to the ends and lengths of very dry hair. Recipe - moisturising day cream for dry and damaged skin ?Douceur et Equilibre? cream - 50 ml jar Wheat protein - 0.5 g Organic rose geranium essential oil - 5 drops Mix all the ingredients directly in the jar. Mix well with a mini stainless steel whisk that has been disinfected beforehand. It's ready to use! Your treatment will keep for three months.
