Very abundant in Canada, this pyramidal conifer grows slowly at low altitudes and prefers very moist, fertile soil. It mixes easily with hardwoods, sugar maples, birches, beeches, etc. Its straight trunk is covered with dark brown, reddish bark and all its organs contain resinous essences. The essential oil extracted from its twigs and needles has a woody and slightly acidic aroma.

Irritating essential oil in its pure state. Be sure to dilute it sufficiently for skin use. Prolonged use is not recommended. Risk of allergy (limonene): take care not to overdose in mixtures. An elbow test is recommended prior to any skin application (min 48 hours before use). Avoid contact with the eyes. Keep out of reach of young children. Store away from heat and light.
