This Southeast Asian tree provides us with a popular essential oil, very rich in aldehydes, mostly citrals. In biochemistry, citrals can be irritating with prolonged use. The present Chinese origin contains about 15% limonene, an ingredient that moderates the potential aggressiveness of citrals and provides its pleasant fruity nuance.
The May Chang essential is anti-inflammatory and soothing. Because of its olfactory qualities and its democratic price, the use of May Chang has become extremely popular in air diffusion. Used in this way, it combines the useful with the pleasant as it is one of the best essential oils for destroying bad smells.
The aroma of May Chang is among the most pleasant that can be found: lively, lemony, fruity. This EO dispels gloom, stimulates conviviality and facilitates openness to others. Its liberating effect is expressed without restraint, unlike Aloysia citriodora.
