    • Botanical family Sandalwood
    • Latin name: Santalum austrocalodenicum
    • Essential oil obtained by distillation of wood
    • From plantations guaranteeing the sustainability of the species through replanting

Originally, the aromatherapy treatises referred to the white sandalwood, Santalum album. Overexploited, this species is now asking to be preserved on pain of permanent extinction. While waiting for a true management of white sandalwood, the essential oil of New Caledonian sandalwood - or Pacific sandalwood - Santalum austrocaledonicum will be preferred. The two species are very similar in terms of biochemistry: in addition to sesquiterpenols (almost 70%), there are aldehydes and sesquiterpenes.

Concerns essential oil at 100% concentration

The aroma that emerges is warm, tenacious, dry, woody and amber. The refinement of sandalwood, its very slightly spicy side, gives it a relaxing and even euphoric power. A quality common to a good number of EO extracted from wood, sandalwood brings inner security, soothes states of diffuse anxiety and relieves stress linked to a lack of self-confidence. Cedarwood essential oil, more solemn, seems to us more suitable for meditation. The particularity of sandalwood is that it opens up sensuality and the liberation of sexual energy, insofar as this dimension is inseparable from the gift of self. Sandalwood allows us to recognise the sacred dimension of the sexual act. It is not surprising that women are particularly sensitive to its power, or rather the sensitive feminine part of each individual. Consistently, Indian symbolism links sandalwood to the second or sacred chakra.

Pass the ball applicator over the inner sides of the wrists, rub the wrists together, bring them up to the level of the nostrils and breathe in the aroma several times deeply. Later on, you can apply it to other entry points: hollows of the elbows, solar plexus, neck and nape of the neck, soles of the feet.
