Is a serum applied before or after a cream? Fluid and serum are not the same thing? What is a hydrosol good for?
To answer your most frequently asked questions, let's go through the basics in the right order! Don't worry, you don't have to follow all these steps: it's up to you to choose between a simple or more sophisticated routine. The important thing is to observe your skin's needs.
Step 1 - The "Douceur" Cleansing Oil, our evening cleanser
Massage a dose of our "Douceur" Make-up Remover Oil onto dry facial skin, then emulsify with warm water and rinse for a fresh, clean complexion!
This is the essential step for healthy skin, whether or not you wear make-up.
Step 2 - Hydrosol, morning and evening
In the evening, apply a hydrosol after cleansing your face with the make-up remover oil.
In the morning, when you wake up, cleanse your face with a hydrosol applied to a wipe or cotton pad.
A quick reminder: always use a hydrosol before your cream, oil or serum!
Step 3 - Serum or aloe vera gel to moisturize the skin
Apply a few drops of hyaluronic acid serum or aloe vera gel all over your face and neck.
Another technique is to mix in the palm of your hand a dose of serum and a dose of your usual oil or cream, that's fine too!
Note: you can stop here or skip this step, depending on what your skin likes!
Step 4 - Oil or fluid, perfect affinity with the skin
Apply your oil or fluid after the serum if you are using one, or if not, just after the hydrosol, on a slightly damp skin.
Oil or fluid, what is the difference? Pure vegetal oil comes from a single plant, our fluids are synergies of vegetal oils and sometimes essential oils for a complete action on the skin.
Step 5 - The Cream, moisturising & protective
Apply it at the end of your skincare routine, on a clean and dry skin, all over your face and neck.
Be sure to apply a small amount so that your skin does not become saturated. Your cream won't be twice as effective if you use twice as much ;)
Practical reminder:
- You don't have to follow all these steps! You can apply one treatment of your choice, depending on your skin's needs! Just a serum, a fluid or a cream. The drier and more dehydrated your skin is, the more interesting it will be to use a combination of products. If your skin is very oily, aloe vera gel may be enough!
- Fluid and serum, what's the difference? A fluid is an oily mixture whereas a serum is an aqueous mixture, with a "gel" texture, without any oily substance.
- What if I don't use the oil cleanser at night? You can use our universal cleanser if you prefer a gel texture, or Le Ptit Doux soap: it's up to you to decide what your skin likes best!
