Body balm

Find out this must-have balm recipe for daily skin care

Ingredients for 75 ml

  • 60 ml of a vegetable oil of your choice
  • 15 g yellow or white beeswax
  • Vitamin E (max 0.2% of the total volume of the mixture)
  • (optional) Essential oil (max 3% of the total volume of the mixture) if you wish to add a fragrance to your balm

Material

  • 1 bowl
  • 1 water bath
  • 1 beaker of 50 ml
  • 1 scale
  • (Optional) A thermometer to account for the melting point of beeswax: between 61°C and 66°C
  • 1 spatula
  • a pot

Preparation

  1. Clean and disinfect equipment, utensils, work surfaces and hands.
  2. Heat the vegetable oil and beeswax in a double boiler (in a container held over a pan of boiling water).
  3. Mix well and remove from heat source.
  4. (Optional) Add the essential oils according to the desired dosage and action.
  5. Unless you keep it in a cool place and in well sterilised jars, you can stabilise this preparation with anti-oxidant vitamin E.
  6. Transfer to a jar.
