The following summary is given for information purposes: it is a synthesis of the properties described in recognised aromatherapy books and/or in accordance with ancestral and popular traditions. The properties* presented are taken from the book ‘Aromathérapie Corps et Ame’ by André Bitsas, published by Amyris. It is in no way a medical information or a list of indications. Presentation True lavender par excellence in its most natural biotope. It is gathered on the high plateaus of Provence, above 1000 m. The essential oil of wild lavender consists of a large number of constituents, but especially esters: linalyl acetate and lavandulyl acetate. In general, the diversity of constituents is much more pronounced than in all other varieties of true lavender: diversity of monoterpenols, stronger presence of cineole. The camphor note is much weaker: borneone (or "camphor") is only present in minute traces. Properties * Wild lavender essential oil is antispasmodic. It harmonises the nervous system: it will calm or tone up depending on the subject's condition (diffusion, friction, massage, bath). It prepares well for sleep, especially for young children who are disturbed. It is also a good cardiac regulator, in case of various arrhythmias. Its antispasmodic and pain-relieving qualities make it effective in cases of cramps, rheumatic pains, muscle contractures and headaches. It is also a wound and burn remedy. This property, together with its anti-inflammatory and healing properties, make it indispensable in aesthetic aromatherapy for regenerating the skin and combating many dermatoses. Beauty It is used in slow cosmetics to make care products for sensitive and problematic skin. Psycho-emotional level With its sweet, floral aroma, wild lavender reveals its familiarity with the emotional domain. It has a regulating effect on mood swings and emotional instability. It is highly recommended to hospitals and health institutions as a major essential oil to combat anxiety and promote a state of well-being.
